American Photo Article
Elaine Gates Recap
I learned all about how she poses her subjects. I learned what her job really is and how many clients she gets. Also how busy she gets with her job. I liked that she has a powerpoint with different things. Also I liked how she showed us examples of her photos. I also really liked how she took us outside and showed us different things to do. I learned a lot about the angle to shoot people and different backgrounds to use.

HDR
ISO: 400 F/22 ss: 1/25 1/100 1/6
Asymmetrical Balance
I selected this because my friends and I always hang out by the creek and i saw this the most recent time we went. I thought it looked really interesting and I love kayaking and love the background.
ISO: 400 f/22.6 ss: 4.0 8.0 2.0
Different Perspective
I selected Harrisburg because I have lived here for most of my life. I took it from a park that I would go to when I was little.
ISO: 400 f/22 ss: 1/200 1/50 1/800
Framing
I took a picture of tis because I played softball at this park for many years.
ISO: 400 f/22 ss: 1/10 1/2 1.6
Leading Lines
I took this one day that I was walking on the path by the creek.
ISO:400 F/22 ss: 1/6 1/25 1/2
Repetition
I took this on the path by the creek also. I just thought the bridge would be an interesting picture.
ISO: 400 f/22 SS: 1/800 1/320 1/20
Symmetrical Balance
I took this picture off of a small makeshift dock one day when I was with my friends. I love the colors and how the image is reflected in the water.
I really like HDR. I think it makes pictures really interesting. If i just took a picture of some of these things it would look boring. I think it gives life to the photos. I think my images show that I like to take photos outdoors. The light changed the color in the image and how the sky looked.

HDR Examples and Notes
I really like these photos because you see every aspect of them. The almost don't look real but they are which to me is very cool. I really like the first photo where the bridge is reflected in the water. I also really like how the sky looks in the photos. The clouds and colors are so unique and interesting.
HDR Notes
- HDR stands for high dynamic range
- Method allows you to increase the dynamic range by merging different exposures of a same scene
- HDR uses a set of bracketed images and dedicated software.
- Photomatix is the leading software
- HDR doesn't have to look artificial or fake
- Must use a tripod to stabilize
Sketchbook Cover
My saying was Hukuna Matata. It means no worries. It has been one of my favorite sayings since I was little and saw the Lion King. All the pictures mean something. The flower is pretty but purple is also my favorite color. The Incline in Pittsburg because my family is from there and i would like to co to college there. The next photo is of my best friend and i just really like the perspective of it. The next on is Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany. I absolutely loved the castle and cant wait to go back. The next one is of my older brother on graduation day. The next is the Berlin Wall. I loved seeing the gallery and Berlin is now one of my favorite cities. The pictures of the beach are taken in Cape Cod where i go in the summer. I really like the beach. The last photo is the Alps in Germany that I thought were really cool.
