Portraiture Shooting Assignment

I liked how this project turned out. I used one of my really good friends so that she would listen to me and would be comfortable in front of the camera. The only hard part was working around both of our work schedules and all of the rain we got during the week.

This is a smile shot. I really like the plant bush thing in the background. I think it looks really nice with the pose.

This photo is a more candid shot that some of the others. I really like this photo. It has some interesting contrast between the white balloon and red. I love the idea of using balloons.

American Photo Article

  • seniors want photos that represent themselves and who they are
  • use lighting effects and unusual angles
  • use different depth of field
  • photographers who take interest in what the client wants usually have better photos that capture the client
  • create fun experiences, incorporates elements
  • studios are equipped with backgrounds and everything you need but they don't look real. Finding different locations makes for better pictures.

Elaine Gates Recap

I learned all about how she poses her subjects. I learned what her job really is and how many clients she gets. Also how busy she gets with her job. I liked that she has a powerpoint with different things. Also I liked how she showed us examples of her photos. I also really liked how she took us outside and showed us different things to do. I learned a lot about the angle to shoot people and different backgrounds to use.
